Recently, some members of our School Council were fortunate enough to visit the local Town Hall and meet the Mayor of Wakefield. The children explored the famous building and looked at the photographs of previous mayors displayed on the walls, learning all about the history of this important role. They even got to see a real council meeting taking place—so they had to be extra quiet! Afterwards, the school councillors said, ” We learned about what the mayor wears and why, as well as the important responsibilities that come with such a prestigious role. The mayor shared stories about the different places she has visited, including care homes and library openings, and explained how she helps the local community.”
Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
